My Inaugural Post: Blogging is hard!

I haven’t even started blogging and I’m already putting it off for other things, like dishes, and I hate doing dishes!

I’ve never been one to keep a diary or journal, so this is all kind of new to me.  I have this really bad habit about being really gung-ho about some new thing and then when I realize it’s not exactly playing out like it did in my head, I just let it fall to the wayside.

I do have a confession to make, though.  I did blog once, while I was living in Korea back in 2008 for a year, but I don’t think that really counts because I basically posted some photos and their description.  Although I did go back and look at my Korea blog and read this post about how much I hated living there, which is strange because I actually look back fondly at the time I spent there and wouldn’t mind going back for an extended period again.  I’ll just chalk it up to being homesick, as my fiance (now husband) and I were living apart for that year.

I plan to use this blog mostly to show off the quilts that I make.  It’s a new hobby I picked up.  I’m not sure what inspired me to start it, but I am enjoying it. Pre-kids I used to knit and crochet a lot.  I’ve always enjoyed crafty things since I was young (or as my 2 year old daughter calls it “arts and craps”), but I just never got into sewing.  It might be because I can’t really sew a straight line all that well.

I remember in Grade 8 Home Ec we had to sew these lunch bags with a velcro closure using a sewing machine, and the teacher gave me a B+. I was kind of devastated and she was totally grading the girls harder than the boys.  I didn’t really sew much at all after that until I moved out of my parents house and had to start hemming all my own pants (I’m 5’1″).

I think I’ll leave it at that for now.  I hope to have some new posts up soon as I’ve already completed a few quilts and I’m in the process of finishing two more.
